About FreeMully

What is goldfishing?

Goldfishing means playing a deck against an empty table, with no one interacting, to see how it runs on its own. It's the quickest way to learn whether your mana works: how often you make your land drops, when your commander comes down, and which spells get stuck in hand.

What does FreeMully measure?

It shuffles your Commander deck and plays it 10,000 times: London mulligans with a free first one, a draw on turn one, one land a turn, and colored mana checked pip by pip. You see how often your commander lands on curve, how often you're mana screwed or flooded, which spells you can't cast on time, and which changes would help.

How many lands should a Commander deck run?

Many decks run 35 to 38. Frank Karsten's formula estimates it from your curve: 31.42 + 3.13 × average mana value − 0.28 × cheap ramp and card draw. FreeMully works out that number for your deck, and its land-count sweep plays your deck at 33 to 39 lands so you can see the trade-off between missed land drops and flooding.

Which decklists work?

Exports from Moxfield and Archidekt paste in as they are, and so do plain lists like “1 Sol Ring”. Card names are matched against Scryfall's data, including double-faced, split and adventure cards, which can be listed by either half.

Is it free? Where do my decks go?

It's free, with no account. Everything runs in your browser, and your decks are saved only in that browser. Your decklists are never sent anywhere.

What doesn't it model?

Opponents, removal, combat, tutors and commander tax. The numbers describe how your mana and curve perform, not how the deck wins. for the full details.
